Class of 2018 Quarterback Allan Walters is well regarded as one of the top quarterbacks in the nation, and with offers beginning to reach the double digits, a commitment is expected soon. “I probably want to commit around June, July, or August.” stated the 6’1” starting quarterback from Paramus Catholic High School (Paramus, New Jersey).

Playing with players like Rashan Gary and Drew Singleton, Walters has had the chance to learn from some of the best in high school football. With a couple years left in his high school career, Allan Walters should be considered one of, if not, the premier quarterback in the 2018 class.

While most recruits wait until their Junior or Senior seasons before committing, Walters plans to commit this summer, as he already has offers from schools such as Alabama, Michigan, Ole Miss, and others. However, Walters still wants offers from a few more schools, saying, “I really want to get offers from Florida, Texas A&M, Georgia, Stanford, and Clemson. Those are the five that I really want offers from right now.”

Walters is sure to receive at least a few more offers. He projects as being one of the most NFL-ready quarterbacks in his class. As a pro-style quarterback, Walters has exceptional accuracy, leaving defenses in disarray. Playing at Paramus Catholic, Walters has shined, largely due to the fact that he gets to play with some of the best prospects in the nation. Associating himself with elite football talent not only helps him on the field, but also off the field, as he says, “They just give me a bunch of advice. As Rashan [Gary] said, ‘It’s not as stressful when you’re younger, but once you get older and college coaches start really coming to see you, call you, call your family, and stuff like that, then it starts to get more stressful.’”

With guidance from teammates, Walters has put himself in a great position to lead next year’s Paramus Catholic team during his Junior and Senior seasons and then ultimately lead a college football team. It’s clear that while Walters has the attitude of a leader, he does a tremendous job of staying humble. “I just want to be known around as the best kid possible. Not even on the field, just as a guy that somebody can take a picture with, talk to about recruiting, or anything. I just want to be the best I can be in all phases, on and off the field, so that I can be a role model.”

Walters’ modest attitude was one of the reasons why the coaches at Paramus Catholic decided to make Walters the starter in only his Sophomore year: “I had a lot of pressure on me this season because although I’m a sophomore, my coaches usually play Seniors as quarterbacks. We’ve had seniors transfer in and play quarterback and we’ve never really had a Sophomore.” the 17-year-old said.

Walters has undoubtedly gained the trust of the coaching staff, despite a disappointing 2015 and 2016 season. Although they finished with a 3-6 record, Walters showed plenty of promise and left no doubt: he’s the right guy to lead the team. “I just work on maturing and becoming the best leader I can as a Sophomore. Obviously, people usually look to seniors first, but with me being the quarterback, I have some work to do.”

Allan Walters may only be a Sophomore in high school, but in his short two years as quarterback at Paramus Catholic, he has shown that he is one of the top prospects in the 2018 class. He is definitely a player to look out for in the Class of 2018 as he attempts to lead Paramus Catholic to an improved season next year, and as Walters said best: “It’s just been a dream of mine to play college football since I was young. There are pictures of me posing, doing the heisman pose. I’ve always loved football, so I want to make my family proud, make them happy. I want to help my family out and the people around me by going to college for free, playing the game I love, and putting a smile on people’s faces. That’s what motivates me, that I love the game.”
