Rayshaun Hammonds may have held offers from nearly 50 schools, but now that he is down to nine schools, a decision nears. Hammonds, a four-star power forward from Norcross, Georgia, has been terrorizing opponents this past summer, and as the start of fall awaits, he has shown no signs of slowing down. “I’m just staying in shape, getting stronger, and working on my game.” said the Class of 2017 star.

Now, after a solid showing in the Nike EYBL with the Alabama Challenge, Hammonds should continue to develop his game and emerge as one of the nation’s best.

Coming from Norcross, Georgia, family roots will definitely play a part in his college decision, as Georgia, Georgia State, and Georgia Tech were all included in his final nine. “I’m looking at the coaches, the environment, and how the campus is,” explained Hammonds. “The process has been stressful and fun at the same time.”

Hammonds also has planned official visits to Alabama, Miami, Memphis, Texas, and Georgia State. Helping him through the recruiting process has been his supportive family. There is no doubt that family plays a big role in many recruitments, and that seems to be the case with Hammonds, as he says, “They tell me to keep playing, not worry about the process, and just have fun.”

Those three pieces of advice have paid dividends for Hammonds as he has not only fallen in love with the game but has transformed into a dominant player. Standing at 6’8”, 190lbs, Hammonds is able to play both small forward and power forward, showing his incredible versatility on the court. “My greatest strength is just my all-around game,” says Hammonds, although he refuses to remain complacent. “I have to improve my strength and quickness. I basically, just need to play hard.”

Between his time working on his game, playing at Norcross High School, and playing on the EYBL circuit, it can be hard to fathom when Hammonds could ever find time for himself. However, he finds a way, saying, “I like playing football. I just play for fun, but it really helps with my strength and quickness.”

Although he doesn’t play on a team, Hammonds football experience has aided him as a basketball player and it shows in his game. Drawing comparisons to NBA star, Paul George, Hammonds is a physical player that can play in the post or on the wing.

Ranked by ESPN as the #38 player in the 2017 class, it is clear that nearly everyone has taken notice of Hammonds and that he deserves to be in consideration among the nation’s elite.

Down to his final nine schools, college coaches can only hope to land 4-star, Rayshaun Hammonds. Wherever he decides to play his collegiate career, he is undoubtedly a player to keep on your radar in the 2017 class. All things considered, Rayshaun Hammonds is playing with "No Worries".
