Jordan Brown may only be a Sophomore in high school, but throughout his early high school basketball career, Brown has made it his mission to prove his doubters wrong. As a top five player in the Class of 2018, Brown already holds offers from schools such as Arizona, Kansas, and California. As his game continues to progress, the offers should continue to pile in. “It’s been fun, so far, getting acknowledged by these schools,” said Brown. “My family has been supportive, really helping me make my decision. They’ve made it easier on me.”

Attending Woodcreek High School (Roseville, CA), Brown has continually enhanced his game since becoming a varsity starter as a Freshman. Being one of the top prospects in the nation, Brown has had to take a leadership role on the team as an underclassman, especially after the overhaul from his Freshman year to his Sophomore year: “Since we basically had a new team compared to last year, we’re trying to make a name for ourselves.” Led by Brown’s extraordinary shot blocking and rebounding ability, Woodcreek High School enters the 2016-2017 with great potential.

As Woodcreek has continually shown improvement, so has Brown. The 6’9”, 190lb Power Forward has enamored college coaches with his uncanny leadership. This has led to him being labeled as, arguably, the top prospect in the Class of 2018, but he never lets it get to his head, saying, “I just try not to think about it. I know that I have to come out and perform every game, but I try not to let everything get to my head, thinking, ‘I’m all this, I’m all that.’”

Despite being a nationally ranked recruit, Brown still has to find a balance between school and sports. “ I usually put school first.” the high school Sophomore said. “I’ll go to school, come home, do my homework, and then practice or spend time in the gym.” Handling his schoolwork, while also staying dedicated to his game has helped Brown distinguish himself as a student athlete.

Now, as Brown’s Sophomore year comes to an end, he is trying to cement his status as an elite player in the Class of 2018 with his AAU team, Play Hard and Play Smart Adidas. Playing against other highly recruited players has allowed Brown to showcase his abilities, as he says, “Being able to travel and play against some of the top competition around has really helped me with my game.”

Since the beginning of AAU season, Brown has already picked up an offer from St. John’s, however, he says that, as of now, he has no timetable for when he will make his decision.

Coming off a stellar sophomore season, Jordan Brown enters his Junior season with plenty of momentum. There is no doubt that he is a player to follow in the Class of 2018 and should compete for the #1 spot in his class. “I’m motivated by the doubters because everyone has doubters, whether they say it or not. I want to prove them wrong.”
