                 Jaedon Ledee Interview

Q: How old were you when you started playing basketball?

A: I was Nine years old, in the 4th Grade.

Q: Who was your main influence in playing basketball and why?

A: My Dad. He kinda introduced me to the game. He played overseas and in college, so like growing up he just always trained me. So, I had no choice, but to play basketball.

Q: What are your goals for the future as a basketball player?

A: You know, First, high school wise, win a couple state championships, SPC Championships. Then hopefully make the USA team. I had the trials, but I didn’t make the team, so next year I’ll hopefully make the team. Future wise, College and hopefully the NBA.

Q: You have already received offers from Texas, Texas Tech, Kentucky, Kansas, and many others. Have you started thinking about where you want to go?

A: Not really. I mean, I haven’t really thought about it yet. I’m planning on going on a couple of visits and see, really start filtering them out.

Q: When do you plan on starting the recruiting process?

A: Really soon, really soon. Probably not until this year is over, so July. Like after AAU season is over. I’ll probably start after that.

Q: How do you think AAU ball has improved your game?

A: It’s just nonstop every day. Then, the circuit that I play on is all the best players, so I know that everytime I step on the court, there’s [gonna be] good competition.

Q: In your opinion, who do you think you play most like? How do you try to model your game after them?

A:I try to mix my game up a little bit. I kinda take bits and pieces from different players. One person that I try to model my game after is Kobe [Bryant]. There’s something like 1-2 Pullups, 2-2 Pullups.  Another person is James Harden with his stepback.

Q: Do you have any pregame rituals?

A: Yes. I eat before a game and Pray before the game.

Q: Do you listen to music before a game? If so, what kind of music?

A: Not really. I mean if someone’s playing it i’ll listen, but not personally, no.

Q: So today, the ESPN 25 came out for 2018. How does it feel to be named one of the best Freshman Basketball Players in the country?

A: It’s pretty big. There are a lot of good players out there. A lot of good people, so I mean, I gotta stay humble. Keep working. I want to be here for a reason. So, I keep learning everyday.

Q: Do you talk with any of the top recruits from your class?

A: Yeah

Q: What aspect of the game do you feel you most excel at?

A: I’m a pretty overall player. My mid-range jump shot, my midrange game in general, I’m pretty good at. Running the floor, creating for others.

Q: What areas of the game would you like to work on more?

A: Defensively I need to get a little better. I’m a solid defensive player, but I mean I can always be better, but really overall I want to work on everything. I’m not great. I’m getting to be great, but i’m not great yet. So, everything I do helps.

Q: How tall are you now?

A: I’m 6’7’

Q: Are you still growing?

A:Yeah, [the] doctor said three more inches.

Q: How have your friends and family influenced you throughout your basketball career?

A: My friends and family are real supportive. People around me, people I keep close, they tell me what I need to hear instead of just the things that I want to hear. They help me grow as a player and as a young man.
